“It is strange but somewhat true that sometimes when our life becomes too plain sailing, we tend to forget and not appreciate the many blessings in life. All it takes is a small setback to wake us up to reality and be thankful for the blessings, however small they may be…I have learned to be appreciative of what I have.”
“It has been said that there is a close correlation between gratitude and happiness. Many have attested to the fact that by being thankful and grateful for the good things in life, one is able to push one’s own happiness index up a few notches.”

The above is an excerpt from a letter to a newspaper from its reader, which I could relate to. In the past, I have come across quite a number of people who opine that gratitude is one of the best attitudes, a person can adopt. Those who speak about the Law of Attraction and how to capitalise on it, have explained that when we are grateful for what we already have, we attract more of the same. The Universe responds to us by way of resonance…like attracts like.
So many of us want more in life and because of that, we feel discontent and unhappy. However, I have had the opportunity to meet people who have so much less, but yet seem to be more joyful simply because they appreciate what they already possess. I believe those who want more are indirectly telling the world that they are lacking, whereas those who live their lives in gratitude are proclaiming that they have enough.
Thus I suppose, the ultimate question for ourselves to ponder is… “Through what lenses do I view my personal life with?…. The lenses of Lack or otherwise?”
Our perspective shapes our reality.
