Disciple: Master, in your opinion, what do you think the masses need the most?
Master : Hmm… the general population? That’s too wide for my discernment. Perhaps, I could offer my answer based upon the people I have met, instead?
Disciple : Yes, please.
Master : Self-awareness!
Disciple: Why would that be, if you don’t mind elaborating?
Master : Many people are habitual complainers… They never seem to have shortage of things to lament about. They label their country’s economy, governments, hygiene practices, politics , social behaviour and even the weather as bad, horrible, tragic, etc..
Disciple: But.. if you look at the world news, these are real life problems.
Master : Dear one, if you truly meditate upon every event, you will understand it actually has no meaning until you assign it one.
Disciple: I don’t get it… If a politician is using bribery to solicit votes, shouldn’t that be considered a bad practice?
Master : You could do so, if it pleases you. Personally, I would watch my language.
Disciple: Hmmm… so how would you describe it then?
Master : Well, like many of the other examples I have given, I would describe them as “evolutionary catalysts”. Matters that can spark a response that might lead to a better outcome. For example, when enough humans awaken, voice their displeasure and actually take concrete action to end corruption, a fresh new approach to politics emerges…one that speaks of integrity.
Disciple : Oh I see…
Master : Do you? Many people have a fixed idea or definition of the outer world. As such, they hardly ever see the silver lining behind events- those which they have already pre-judged as negative. Now, do you comprehend why so many people are dissatisfied with life? My point is – they are not even aware of the box they have put themselves in… they have confined everything as either good or bad…positive or negative, without a splinter of hope.
Disciple : So, how does one avoid this path?
Master : Well… one could start by seeing events as neutral… walk through it daily as part of the fantastic human experience of diversity. Are you aware that there are intuitive souls who describe Earth as the Great Experiment?
Disciple : I tend to think of life on this planet as a great test, instead.
Master : Excellent! But would it not have the same connotation ? Truly, humans can use whatever definition they choose…as long as it serves them. I am only concerned about those who by their own definition of life, have created unnecessary misery for themselves day after day, without being aware how their thoughts affected their temperament.
Disciple : So, you are suggesting that we be mindful in our daily action, yes?
Master : Precisely… and by my own definition, Life Is Good … Life Is Exciting … Life Is Enriching… and I am the steward of my Life… always.
